The Academy Of Dentistry International- Republic of the Philippines Section has achieved a significant milestone with its inaugural tripartite collaboration aimed at providing continuing education to dentists in the southern part of Manila. In line with the president's commitment, the ADI is dedicated to extending ongoing educational opportunities to dentists across the nation. This marks a historic moment for the organization, as it is the first time it has joined forces with both a dental university and a specialized group to enhance the knowledge of our dentists, offering a unique three-day workshop with practical learning components. The feedback from our initial group of 33 participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their enthusiasm for future sessions. The instructors from our partner group, the Orofacial Pain Association of the Philippines ( OPAP ), have received exceptional reviews, headed by ADI Fellow Jonathan Fandialan; and the choice of the Adventist University of the Philippines as the venue has proven to be the perfect setting for such an informative seminar.
It was a rainy Day 1 for the ADI-OPAP Workshop. But it was a full house. Thank you to our 32 participants for braving the heavy rains. #adiexpandinghorizons
The 3-day intensive course and hands on workshop,
“Management of TMD and Orofacial Pain for the
General Dentist “ was held last July 30,31 and August 1,
2023 to a full attendance of eager dentists at the Center for
Graduate Studies at the Adventist University of the
Philippines in Silang, Cavite. In spite of the bad weather, all
registered participants made it on time. A short opening
program preceded the lectures with the ADI president Fellow
Rochelle Javier delivering the Opening Remarks followed by
the AUP College of Dentistry Dean Herminiano Subido for
his welcome remarks.
Joining Fellow Fandialan in sharing their knowledge are
three proficient ladies- Dr. Cookie Somera-Atienza, Dr.
Tricia Dellosa and Dr Jessy Domagsang.
After engaging in hours of intensive lectures and enjoying
delightful meals, our dedicated dentist participants took part
in a memorable graduation ceremony. During this
ceremony, our dentists were presented with their individual
certificates by three distinguished figures: Fellow
Fandialan, our course director; Fellow Javier, the esteemed
ADI president; and the amiable Dr Subido, the Dean of
AUP College of Dentistry.
On the final day of the workshop, our participants
demonstrated their expertise by successfully crafting splints
for the appliance therapy. The workshop's resounding
success and the warm reception it received have prompted
ADI- RP Section to consider extending the same course to
dentists in the northern region. We eagerly anticipate the
continued support of our ADI fellows in this exciting
upcoming endeavor.
This seminar was made achievable thanks to the generous
contributions of our sponsors and supporters. Valuedent
Dental Corporation supplied the materials for our
workshop, The Park Hotel extended discounted room rates
to our participants, and Pascual Laboratories has been
steadfast in their support for the ADI.
The ADI- RP Section continues to appreciate the chance to
offer our dentists high-quality continuing education
courses, thanks to the capable assistance of our sponsors.
We look forward to receiving similar support as we embark
on our next project in early 2024.
